Hi,

First thing to verify is that you have no add-ons installed which could cause problems. With the game closed down please locate your World of Warcraft installation folder and delete the directories called WTF, Cache and Interface.

Restart the game and check to see if you have the same problem, if you do then could you tell me more about your connection please.

Also perform a pathping test to the same IP address to see if your losing any packets along the way.

Thompson does seem to be a common occurrence for those getting stuck on the loading screen, I don't have access to such a router myself so I cannot test how to configure it, as it must be a possible factor into why the game is strugging to connect.

For those with such a router would you have the option to test a non-thomson router to see if you still have connection difficulties.

It could be a NAT issue, I found the following video which seems to cover how to configure ports for THOMSON TG789vn, so you may be able to reference it to configure that router with the World of Warcraft ports.

World of Warcraft uses TCP/UDP port 3724 and TCP port 1119, and these are the ports you need to make sure are open.

Does your router produce any logs when attempting to connect, if you've configured the ports there should be some mention if those ports where accessed

your router should have a event log or connection log of most things that happened on your router, I cannot say where exactly as I do not have access to that router, bit it might be interesting to check if you can find it in one of the menus.

Unfortunately each router stores and saves logs differently, you may need to look on the route manufacturer's website for help regarding where your specific router is saving this information.

There were two issues causing problems like this, however we resolved those with the 4.0.6 patch. We are not currently experiencing problems that cause issues like this.

What is happening is that your computer is waiting for a response from the server but is not receiving it, this is not because the server is not sending it, rather instead what is happening is that the data is being bottlenecked.

We can only advise troubleshooting steps to resolve this, such as deleting your AddOns, making sure your network card is configured:

The portuguese ISP MEO has a fix for the Thomson router problems and WoW, I have it on my Thomson TG784 router and it works as it should now. Finally!

My problems were:
- Random freezing when logging into WoW, would just stop at "Connecting"; I had to press Cancel and login again to be able to get into my characters;
- Random freezing at 90% when entering world with a character;
- Random disconnects when switching characters;
- Random freezes at loading screens, especially on arenas, would be stuck at 0% for like 5 mins and then suddenly enter the Arena or exit with a "Transfer aborted: Instance not found" error;
- Random freezes when exiting arena also.


I called my ISP (MEO) techical support (Tel. 16209) and told them I had issues with disconnects on WoW, and they had a supposed "patch" for my router model, the Thomson TG784. I didn't really had much faith in the "patch", but it turns out it really worked!!!

I tried digging up some information about this "patch", and it seems some Thomson routers have a problem with port mapping, they have some kind of erratic behavior as sometimes they don't open the ports (or leave them open) in the NAT. They developed this patch around October last year, because of repeated connection drops with other online games.

TL,DR: If you live in Portugal and have the MEO ISP, call 16209 and tell them you have problems in online games (WoW) and that the connection drops simetimes, and they'll remotelly upload the "patch" to your router.

This might be something to check with your ISP if you have this particular model of Router, i sounds like the router despite having port mapping setting doesn't seem to remember the rules set or has a association time which isn't long enough.

That it's so hard for them to even come up with a simple fix like allowing you to relog so you can re-enter arena before the match actually starts like in rbg's or instances, that would be enough. But not even that has happend.....

I'm afraid there's nothing to "fix" on our end. As much as we would like to see this issue solved, we regrettably are unable to tackle what appears to be a client-side only issue.

Should the issue persist, you will need to either test the game with another router/modem or contact your Internet Service Provider.
