Tralalalia | Crash upon entering world + SolutionSat, 28. Jan. 2012 17:01 GMT I recently had trouble with WoW crashing and thought I'd share my problem as well as a solution and/or hope to maybe get a few more insights :) Recently I did a complete reinstallation of my system. (Win7 64bit now, WinXP 32bit before) For the first few days everything worked just fine until I started to experience crashes: ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal exception! The first time the crash happened, it seemed that it might have been because I moved my character to an overcrowded area in Stormwind. However, after that, the crash always occured upon entering the world with that very same character. Logging on other characters did still work, I tried to tweak some settings, clearing addons, WTF, WDB etc., but nothing helped. Because I didn't want to do another reinstall right away, I tried to rule out the possibility of other programs interfering with WoW first. Luckily, I found that when I'm not running Firefox, WoW just worked fine again. In particular, the problem is not Firefox itself, but plugin-container.exe seems guilty - especially when it's running Adobe Flash Player 64bit (newest version), cannot say for sure for other plugins. So the solution is: killing plugin-container.exe via Task Manager before running WoW. (It means that I can't have e.g. Youtube in the background, which is slightly annoying but not as annoying as WoW crashing :)) (I however still suspect some sort of (ambient?) sound or something similar could play a role here, because I do get short "freezes" now at certain points in the world, e.g. Stormwind, but at least no more crashes.) |
