Did you run the game with administrative privileges?

Did you disable/uninstall your security software prior to running the Launcher.exe application file?

Do you have enough free space on your hard drive?

Could you please try again in Safe Mode with Networking?

If you are running the game on Windows Vista / Windows 7, make sure that you right-click the game icon and choose Run as administrator.

What if you create another Windows administrator user account and login to your system?

Should the issue persist, please try and delete the Updates folder located in the game directory and then try again.

If need be, I will need you to post your MSInfo - Running Tasks report:

- Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard and type in:

msinfo32

- In the System Information application, expand Software Environment and click Running Tasks
- Click File and choose Export
- Export the report to your Desktop and ensure it's saved as TXT (text) file

Could you please navigate to the game folder and then delete the Temp folder, if available?

Once deleted, run the Launcher to see if the issue persists.

you will also see a Wow.exe file, just double click that..

Do not run the game through the WoW.exe application file unless your game client is fully up-to-date:

As for the error message, did you all try and reboot Windows in Safe Mode with Networking? Did the Repair tool report no errors?

Are you logged onto Windows with an administrator account?

Did you disable or temporarily uninstall your security software prior to running the Launcher?

Yes I am administrator on this computer

Are you running Windows XP?

Could you please try and create another Windows administrator account and then login to the system with it?

Once logged in, delete the Launcher.log file and run the Launcher. Should the issue persist, I will need you to post the newly created Launcher.log file to this thread. Thank you :)

If the previously recommended steps did not help solve the issue, I'm afraid I can only recommend you to copy an updated game client from a friend's computer or uninstall and then reinstall your game installation. As far as I can tell we are pretty much out of options.

The issue you are experiencing is most likely cause by factors we have no control over (e.g. damaged data files, third party applications interfering with the game, incorrectly configured system-wide settings/applications etc).

As much as we would like to help, we regrettably cannot foresee every single issue our players might be facing whilst patching the game client.

I understand this is frustrating, unfortunately I'm currently unable to suggest any additional troubleshooting steps as this specific issue might very well be caused by damaged files no workaround will help you solve.

Hi there,

Would it be possible to ask you to remove the Battle.net Cache folder, then try the download / patch again?

You can find it here:

[WINDOWS XP]

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net

[WINDOWS VISTA/7]

C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net

Once here, right click on the Cache folder and select Rename. You can then rename the folder to Cache.Temp to ensure that it is not recognised by the game the next time it launches.

Then let us know if the issue persists after this?

Hi folks,

I want to start by offering my apologies for this issue. I want to assure all of you that this has been noted as an obviously significant issue with today's patch and it's being given due attention by our developers.

I also want to share a possible workaround with you. We've had some reports that deleting one of the folders can resolve the "damaged" error message and allow you to run the reconfiguration process properly. If you'd like to try it, the folder you need to delete is:

            <your WoW folder>\Temp\

Please note that if you are able to reach a "reconfiguring game data" screen it's perfectly normal for it to appear idle. The process can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, and perhaps even longer depending on the speed of your computer. Please do not interrupt it.

Once it's finished, the launcher may find that it has to download some additional data. This can be caused by closing the launcher at any time during the patch/conversion, or, in some unfortunate cases, it may simply be a case of incomplete game data that had previously gone unnoticed.

I saw that a few of you have asked what this reconfiguration process is doing. With 4.3.2 we've improved the way that WoW stores patch data so that it's much more efficient. This means that it's faster and it's also less wasteful in terms of hard drive usage. In order to benefit from this change all of your existing game data needs to be converted to the new system.

Please rest assured that we'll be keeping this thread updated as and when we have more information to share. A lack of updates doesn't mean we've forgotten about you or that we're ignoring you; we're still actively reading through all of the replies, and are simply waiting for information from our developers before posting.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. :)

I want to quickly reiterate that if you're not seeing a "damaged installation" error then it's probably best to avoid deleting anything. If it's reconfiguring then please, please let it do it's thing, even if it's taking ages. The alternative is a large download.

Indeed, running the launcher and game as admin is always a good idea and it often resolves/prevents common problems. Security software is sometimes also to blame; firewalls and restrictive anti-virus software can interfere with the process, so temporarily disabling them may help.
