Hi, I've been playing warcraft for maybe a month now and my main character is mid level 30s. I felt a bit dumb posting about this so I posted on another character.

I've been looking for related threads but can't find any, I don't know if it's just me, or just my realm, but I feel lonely and in the minority as a newer player. Many things I'm doing on wow it seems that a lot of people expect my lower level character to be an alt, or they don't want to know me. As if I have to know exactly what I'm doing for them to want to interact with me, but of course I don't know everything, I'm new and learning. I feel like... 'veterans'? are looking down on me.

I'm still loving playing and will continue to, but I'm sure it must put other new people than me off, people who maybe are just trialing wow and might not stay around.

Some players have been so nice and helpful, I've been really grateful, but it's been rare occasions. I know many players in my realm are level 85 and seem pretty expert, but they all had to be new once too! It would be nice to be treated as an equal by more players, not someone who will only get respect or their time at level 85.

If this post sounds like I'm complaining, sorry, I just want to know if others are experiencing this and if it's the same on all realms. Also, I'm interested if there's a way to meet more players that are newer or friendly to new people.

Thanks.

I'd definitely recommend finding a nice guild to help you out. Many "veteran" players will gladly give advice to new people and take the time to explain things. I personally enjoy helping newbies out—it's been a while since I started the game back in vanilla, but I still remember how daunting the game can be when you barely know how to operate your character, let alone all the ins and outs of the multiple features WoW has to offer.

In regards to the game being easier these days, yes and no. I think many long-term players will say it's a lot easier now because of things like the built-in quest guide, but you have to take into account all there still is to learn, not to mention the new features there are now such as things like glyphs and the LFD tool for example.

A friend of mine (who'd never picked up an MMO before) recently started playing WoW. It wasn't until I had him asking me things like "How do I reply to people?" and "How do I change what my character is wearing?" that I realised just how much there is to learn if you're starting from absolute scratch. He's nowhere near ready to try out the LFD tool yet, let alone getting his head around the benefits of glyphs and reforging.

Keep going, Ennee. There's lots to pick up over time, but you'll get there with some friends to make the learning a little smoother :)
