Hi! I've send a recruit a friend, but we can't summon! iI think because my friend has download a trial client and not a full...what i need to do now? t.t

Greetings Fannie,

I can see that you’ve also submitted a web help petition about this situation, and that the representative who responded has provided you with information concerning the Recruit-a-Friend invitation you sent on the 19th of this month. Was that the one to which you refer in this post?

The reason I ask is that you also appear to have sent a new invitation some minutes before originally creating this thread, and that particular invitation hasn’t actually been claimed at all, so this could easily be what’s causing the lack of in-game features for you and your friend (Starter Edition account or no, as it should still be possible to gain triple XP and summon each other using a Starter Edition account).

Hopefully your friend from last night has yet to upgrade their account to full status, and if so then they should please check the email address to which you sent the invitation and use the CD-Key therein to create a new Starter Edition account on their Battle.net. If they have upgraded, however, then they themselves will need to get in contact with our Account and Payment team to get the error corrected. :)

As I mentioned in my reply above, I’m not entirely sure whether you yourself are asking about the friend you seem to have recruited on the 19th or the invitation you issued last night (the 22nd) – if you can please clarify this for me, I can advise you further, as there could potentially be two different issues here. :)

Ahh, glad to hear it – the invitation from last night is obviously unused, so that could easily have been a source of problems! ;)

Moving back to the one you sent on the 19th, there actually doesn’t appear to be an issue with the RAF link at all – your account appears to be linked to your friend’s Starter Edition account (or at least to the Starter Edition account belonging to someone!), and it should actually be possible to enjoy the in-game perks of Recruit-a-Friend even while playing with someone on a Starter Edition account.

This leads me to ask how exactly you’re trying to summon your friend, and what issues you’re getting?

How do I summon a friend?

      While partied, simply right-click your target's portrait and select "Summon Friend." You may also summon your friend through the Social Tab by clicking on the icon next your target's name within your Friends List.

Are there any limits on when and where I can summon my friend?

      You may summon a recruit character once every hour; recruit characters may also summon you on a one-hour cooldown. Although the ability to be summoned ceases at level 81, characters of this level or above may still summon their friends as long as the summoning target is level 80 or lower.

      Note: Characters on accounts which are not Wrath of the Lich King (Wrath) or Cataclysm (Cata) enabled may not be summoned to those specific (Wrath or Cata) zones. This includes Death Knight, Goblin, and Worgen starting areas, as well as the whole of Northrend and the new level 80+ Cataclysm zones.

You’ll need to ensure, therefore, that you and your recruited friend are partied together in a group, and that you’re not attempting to summon your friend to a location that wouldn’t normally be accessible to a Starter Edition account.

The account should be linked Duanadan. Please get them to create a character and see if you are able to group up and use the in-game abilities. If you are still having trouble, you are welcome to contact our Account and Payment team who will be happy to assist you further. :)
