Biggie | Account characters switched realm and lost everything..Sun, 19. Feb. 2012 16:02 GMT Dear All (and especially Blizzard), I opend my email around 16.30 and I saw 5 mails from Blizzard. The first 3 saying I bought a character Server change and Race change (6.15 am CET). I checked the last 4 numbers of the Credit Card and it isn't mine. I never even pay with Credit Card. The 4rd saying my Password was resetted (11.23 am CET). The 5th saying my account was banned for 3 hours (11.30 am CET). Yesterday night I still played . When I just logged in, my Human Rogue and Human Warlock of lvl 85 missed them in the character screen selection together with a lvl 71 Dreanei Shaman all from the same server The Mealstrom. So I clicked the realm chosing tab. Thats when I saw I was on more realms than I could remember. I clicked around and then I finally found my warlock on a totally different realm and as a Orc (mind I was a human). I logged on and then I saw everything was gone except for my old Nemesis set I have since lvl 60. Exactly the same was for my Rogue, but that was changed to a different realm than my Lock, and my rogue also got changed from Human to Orc, and most of gear got Dissenchanted (the dissenchanted stuff together with alot more lower lvl dissenchant stuff was still in my bag. At my Shaman I only lost my gold (everything else including everything in my bank, I still had). Now it's clear I'm hacked, but how is it possible that they also changed realms? And on top of that they also changed the Race. You can say a lot to me, but did they just spend 135 euros to change 3 chars completely? And why do I not need to give a conformation mail that I actually really want to change my chars? Also I just checked my order history and it says the payment things are queued. How can they already be sent over if it's still in Queue? To top that off, I have 2 more lvl 85 chars at Auchindon Horde side, but to those, nothing happend. Now care to explain that? I'm now going to sent a ticket at every char, but if anyone (Blizzard included) can help me, that would be a big thanks. With regards, Biggie. |

Feb. 2012 19:02 GMT Greetings Biggie, Although I’ll try to answer some of the points you raise in your post, I’m pleased to see that it looks like everything has already been resolved swiftly and efficiently by our in-game team. :) So, unfortunately it’s actually quite a common practice for malicious third-parties accessing player accounts to move their characters between realms in order to empty the character on a destination server more suited to their “needs”. These Character Services will often have been performed using dubious credit card information, and are frequently blocked by us once the later stages of payment processing confirm this to have been the case. Furthermore, not all realms or characters are necessarily of interest to the type of people that ‘hack’ WoW accounts, so it’s not uncommon for compromised players to notice massive losses on one realm but perhaps very little alteration on another. Hopefully that helps explain some of your related queries, and all that remains now is for me to urge you to please take steps to secure your system at the earliest possible opportunity (either with an Authenticator, or using Shammoz’ excellent guide linked above). If there’s any chance that your account details could have been obtained using some nasty malware, there’s a possibility that you could become compromised again in the near future, so it’s usually better to be safe than sorry! :) |
